The Leap Venture Studio blog series has returned! In March 2023, six promising early-stage pet care startups embarked on a 12-week journey within the program to expedite their ventures. During this time, the
companies worked with experts from Mars Petcare, Michelson Found Animals and R/GA Ventures and received venture capital investment, mentorship, and customized programming tailored to meet their needs.

Tell us about your startup
André: Tobipets is a leading platform dedicated to providing a convenient and trusted destination for pet lovers to meet the health and wellness needs of their pets. We are making caring for your pet easy!
How has your startup made a difference for pets?
André: We care about the wellbeing of pets in Latin America. We want pet lovers to have an affordable way to improve the health of their pets and spend more time with beloved companions.
What are the greatest challenges you’ve faced as a startup founder and how have you overcome them?
André: Being a founder in smaller Latin American markets can be hard. Resources are scarce and few share the vision and opportunity in these markets. To overcome these challenges, we adopted a proactive and agile approach, continuously adapting our strategies by seeking feedback from customers and team members, innovating in ripe markets and remaining focused on our mission and vision. We’ve leveraged our strengths, sought strategic partnerships, and remained resilient, allowing us to overcome these challenges and drive Tobi’s success.
What is your biggest take away from the Leap Venture Studio?
André: The opportunity to work closely with industry experts, engage in hands-on activities, and collaborate with a diverse community of professionals and fellow founders in the same industry was invaluable. The knowledge gained, insights shared, and connections formed during the program have significantly enhanced our growth trajectory, providing us with a solid foundation to navigate the challenges and opportunities in the pet industry. We are grateful for the support and guidance received, which has fueled our drive to take Tobipets to the next level as a leading player in the market.
What advice would you give to fellow pet care founders who are just starting their journey?
André: Take the leap. Drive quality through ridiculous amounts of focus. Constantly communicate with other founders, your team and most importantly your clients!
Tell us about your pet(s)!
André: Olivia is a 9-year-old miniature Schnauzer. Although she is now a ‘senior’ dog, she is full of energy, loves morning walks, and has a strong passion for barking at anything or anyone… but a very affectionate dog. I don’t know what I would do without her.
